Rare Pelagic bird that prefers southern waters of the Caribbean and along the Mexican coastlines both eastern and western up through Baja. Reminiscent of 2015 when two Brown Booby's found the Baltimore Harbor a temporary home late summer, at least four and perhaps up to 6 have been present since the beginning of August north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on Maryland's eastern shore near Rock Hall. Four were seen on this visit by boat. Three were resting on Buoy 1UC northwest of Love Point, Kent Island, Maryland. The fourth was seen on Buoy #3 northeast of 1UC. It is possible that they have followed large shipping boats from more open waters into the bay and have stayed due to good food sources.
